6 arrested over murder of NRI
Two days after the murder of 21-year-old NRI student Anmol Sarna, the Delhi police arrested six persons, two guards and four friends of Anmol. DCP southeast P. Karunakaran confirmed the arrests.
The family members, neighbours and friends of Anmol carried out a candle-light vigil in the area seeking justice for his soul. The police also claimed that Anmol’s friends are changing their statements. “They have changed their statement several times,” said the police official.
Sarna, an American citizen who completed his Class 12 from New York, had come to India in January and was residing at his grandparent’s house in Greater Kailash. The police suspects that some friends of the deceased, who was at the party, must have hit him with a hard object.
According to a senior police official, Sarna was invited by one of his childhood friend, Chikki, at his apartment for a farewell party as he was leaving to Canada for higher studies. Sources said Chikki introduced Sarna to three of his other friends at the apartment.
After a few minutes, the deceased was reportedly attacked by his friends. He ran out of the apartment where the party was held. A passerby saw him in a pool of blood and called the police.
He was taken to the hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors.
