50 graduates seek cleaner’s job in south civic body
Exposing the state and graveness of unemployment in the country, about 50 graduates have applied for the post of road cleaners in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation even though a Class 5 pass is eligible for the same as per the corporation’s prerequisite. The civic body has received about 18,000 applications.
The South Corporation invited applications to fill vacancies of about 5,400 cleaners, with 2,500 posts in the central zone and 2,900 in the south zone.
Among the applications received by the civic body, about 200 are from Class 12 pass applicants.
The SDMC is appointing cleaners on contract basis for two months. Afterwards, the corporation will renew the contract on the basis of evaluation of the work done by those short-listed.
Director, press and information, Mukesh Yadav confirmed that the corporation invited applications to fill the vacancy of 5,400 cleaners, wherein 50 graduates have applied. To apply for the post of a cleaner, it is required of the applicant to belong to the same ward and zone of the corporation.
The applicants will have to face an interview, which would be followed by a practical test of cleaning.

Inauguration of kashmere gate isbt likely may 2

The much-awaited formal inauguration of Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminus will finally take place on May 2. The upgradation and renovation work of ISBT started in June 2011. According to a highly-placed source in transport department, chief minister Sheila Dikshit has confirmed the date of the inauguration for May 2.
Following the formal inauguration, commuters will get a first-hand experience of many international facilities available at domestic and international airports.
The terminus has LCD screens in the arrival, departure and ticket counter areas to display the related information for commuters.
The public address system can make automatic sound level adjustments for different zones. High-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed for surveillance and parking space for cars and two-wheelers has been renovated.
Kashmere Gate ISBT, which was established in 1976 and partially stopped working from June 2011 for renovation, has remodelled the building by structural strengthening, retrofitting of the existing structure against earthquake.
