5 schoolkids hurt in car accident
Five schoolchildren were injured when a speeding Scorpio crashed into their vehicle near the INA Metro station on Tuesday afternoon.
The police said the incident took place at around 12.45 pm when the victims, studying at the Air Force school situated on Ashoka Road, were being ferried back to their homes in a school van. “As their vehicle approached the INA Metro station, a speeding Scorpio rammed into it, resulting in injuries to at least five children,” a senior police official said.
Children started shouting for help following which a call was made to the police control room. The accident also caused traffic snarls on the busy road before marshals were rushed to the spot and the vehicles involved in the accident were taken to the Sarojini Nagar police station.
In the meantime, injured children were admitted to AIIMS trauma centre from where they were discharged after primary medication. All of them are stated to be out of danger. The police said the accused, identified as Sunil, has reportedly worked as a journalist but is currently unemployed.
