5 rapes reported in a day, 5 held

Five rape cases were reported from the city in past 24 hours. The police has arrested six persons as five women, including a minor and a call centre employee, were raped.
A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in Aman Vihar area. A senior police official, “The victim has alleged that her uncle, identified as Durgesh, had been raping her for past six months but she did not tell her parents about the incident as she was scared. On Thursday night, the victim approached the police with her family members to get an FIR lodged.” The accused is absconding, the official said.
In another incident, two persons were held for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman from Nabi Karim area of Central Delhi.
“Sanju and Surender were arrested on Thursday night from Kamla Market area. The accused were known to the victim. Sanju took her to an isolated area in Kamla Market and raped her. Then Surender took her to his room and raped her whole night. The victim approached the police a day after the incident. We did not add gangrape section as she was raped at different places,” said the official.
The third incident was reported from Anand Vihar, east Delhi. The police has arrested one Amit, 24, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old call centre employee.
“The victim befriended the victim. She has alleged that Amit took her to forest area in Mehrauli where he raped her,” said the police official.
The fourth incident took place in Alipur where a 42-year-old businessman was arrested for allegedly raping his employee’s wife.
“The victim said that her husband works in the factory of accused Rajesh Aggarwal. She alleged that Aggarwal came to meet her husband but raped her finding her alone. An FIR was lodged and Aggarwal was arrested,” said the police official.
In another case, a 25-year-old woman was raped in Najafgarh area. The police arrested the accused Vishnu Ram, a resident of Gopal Nagar.
