5 killed in fatal road accidents in city
Five persons were killed in separate accidents in the city in the last 24 hours. A Nepalese, 25, who worked as a domestic help, was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in Preet Vihar.
It is suspected that he was crushed by a Mercedes as a broken Mercedes logo was found at the spot.
A senior police official said, “The deceased Ramu Singh, 25, a domestic help, was crossing the road on Thursday night when he was hit by a vehicle that is said to be a Mercedes car. Ramu Singh died on the spot.”
In another incident, a man was killed and his 19-year-old friend suffered severe injuries when their motorcycle fell off a flyover in Mayur Vihar area of east Delhi.
The police said that the deceased Haider Mehandi was on a motorcycle with his friend Ali Mehandi.
“Haidar had got a job abroad. He went to meet Ali and other friends. They went to India Gate and planned to go to Nanital. They were going towards Khoda Colony. Haider lost control over the bike on Mayur Vihar flyover and they fell off. Haider died on the spot while Ali is undergoing treatment,” said the police official.
The third incident was reported from Sarita Vihar where a 25-year-old man was crushed to death by a truck.
“The deceased Kundan was crossing the road when he was hit by truck. The errant driver fled from the spot abandoning the truck. An FIR was lodged against him and a search is on to nab him,” said the police official.
In yet another incident, a 26-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Badarpur area.
The deceased Mukesh was returning home after work.
The fifth fatal accident was reported from Nangloi area where one Shyam was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle.
