4 kids die in house collapse at Gz’bad
Four minor children, including a girl, of a family were killed and four others members were injured when a two-storey house collapsed in Islam Nagar, Ghaziabad, late on Tuesday night. The police has arrested the driver of JCB, which was cleaning a drain along the house. It is alleged that the house collapsed as the JCB damaged its foundation.
According to the Ghaziabad police, the dead include Shakreen, 11, Sania, 7, Shariq, 6, and Salman, 14, children of 40-year-old Shakir, an autorickshaw driver.
Shakir, his wife Nargis, 35, and their two other children Aatika, 4, and Sagiba, 8, were injured. They were rushed to the district hospital where their condition was reported to be serious but stable.
“The bulldozer hit the foundation of the house which led to its collapse,” said an eyewitness.
He said that the bulldozer handler did not even inform the residents about any possible hazard due to the work.
Ghaziabad SSP, Raghubir Lal, said, “We have registered a case under Sections 338 (endangering lives of others through a dangerous act) and 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC and arrested Akshay, the driver of the JCB. The bulldozer has also been seized.”
