4 held for E. Delhi murders
The police on Friday said it has arrested four persons, including two women, in the double murder case in which a 90-year-old woman and her 55-year-old daughter were killed in Laxmi Nagar area.
A police official said the accused were identified as Chandana, Rakhal Mandal, Prem Babu and his wife Urmila. Rampati and her daughter Rajni Devi were found dead with their throats slit at Sri Durge Apartments on Monday.
The accused Chandana used to work as a domestic help. “Chandana wanted to marry Rakhal and needed money. Chandana hatched a conspiracy to commit robbery,” said the police official.
On Sunday at around 10 pm, Chandana helped them gain entry and thereafter the four overpowered the mother-daughter duo and killed them by slitting their throats. Two mobile phones, two bangles, a pair of earrings and two knives used in the crime were recovered from them.
