3 jewellers arrested for buying booty

The police arrested three jewellers Deepak Verma, Naushad Ali and Anil Vats for allegedly buying robbed and stolen ornaments. “Snatchers Nitin, Akshay and Rahul, who were arrested on Saturday, confessed that they sold the gold ornaments to Deepak, Naushad and Anil,” said a senior police officer.

“Keeping in view the involvement of organised crime syndicate, provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act are likely to be initiated against these people,” ACP (crime) Ravindra Yadav told reporters here.
Deepak was arrested on Wednesday from his shop in Noida. He used to buy stolen jewellery from Nitin and Akshay at 40 per cent of the market rate. He had bought eight gold chains and four gold bangles. One stolen gold necklace has been recovered from him.
“Naushad and Anil were arrested on Thursday from Palam. One stolen gold chain and a gold bracelet were recovered at their instance,” he said.
