3 held for techie’s abduction
Three persons, including a former call centre employee, have been arrested by the east Delhi police for allegedly kidnapping a software engineer. The police has recovered the robbed Wagon-R of the victim and also seized the Santro car used by the accused in the crime.
According to the police, Vikas Bhandari, a software professional, was on his way home in Arjun Nagar in east Delhi when some persons, armed with guns, kidnapped him in his own car at around 3.15 am on June 26. Just a few minutes before the kidnapping, he had called up his wife to say that he would reach home soon. While his wife approached the police the next day, Baghpat police sent a message to the east Delhi police about a man claiming to have been kidnapped and robbed of his belongings. The east Delhi police found out that the victim in question was Vikas. A case was registered and, following investigations, the police arrested Mohammad Intezaar in this connection. At his instance, two others — Mohammad Mukarram and Shaukat Ali — were also arrested. All three accused were residents of Baghpat. The police said that after kidnapping Vikas, they took him to Baghpat, where they abandoned him after taking away his ATM card and also robbing him of his shoes.
