3 held for murder of businessman
Three persons, including a sharphooter, were arrested in the national capital in connection with the murder of a businessman in the Katwaria Sarai area early on June.
Anil Jaat (32), a sharphooter of the notorious Ashok Rathi gang, Nitin (25) and Vikash (26) were arrested on Saturday following a tip-off, additional commissioner of police (crime) Neeraj Thakur said.
Nitin and Vikash allegedly had personal rivalry with Harvinder Singh, who owns a shop in Katwaria Sarai, and this led to the murder of the businessman, he said.
“Two months ago, Honey, cousin of Nitin, was murdered in Katwaria Sarai and Singh celebrated this by distributing sweets in the village. Nitin and Vikash then decided to kill him in revenge and hired two sharp-shooters of the Ashok Rathi Gang for Rs 5 lakhs,” Mr Thakur said. The arrests came after police received a tip-off that Anil will come near Central School in Vasant Kunj. On June 3, Jaat and Sudhir came to Singh’s shop and shot him dead. Sudhir, who is previously involved in more than 30 criminal cases, is absconding. Jaat had been released from Bhondsi jail in February last this year. He was in need of money to pursue his cases in court as he is previously involved in more than 20 cases, the officer said.
