3 convicted for raping minors
Three men have been convicted for raping minors in three separate incidents.
Additional sessions judge Rajneesh Kumar Gupta convicted 45-year-old Badari Mehto, a resident of Nihal Vihar, for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2011 and awarded him a seven-year jail term. The court also imposed a fine of `2,000 on him and said the testimony of the victim was “reliable, cogent and inspired confidence”.
The girl told the court that she was playing outside her house when Mehto came and took her to a nearby poultry farm and raped her.
Another man was sentenced to 10 years in jail for raping a minor. Additional sessions judge Virender Bhat convicted Nand Kumar and imposed a fine of `10,000 on him.
In the third case, a youth was sentenced to seven years’ jail by additional sessions judge T.R. Naval for raping a minor girl after abducting and giving her a sedative-laced drink. The court convicted Prashant and imposed a fine of `20,000 on him.
