2 women raped in city, FIRs lodged

Two widows were raped in the capital in the past 24 hours.
A 32-year-old widow was kidnapped and gangraped allegedly by her three neighbours in Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi.
A senior police official said that an FIR has been registered following the statement of the victim but the police is trying to verify her claims as she has a property dispute with the accused.
“The woman has said in the complaint that she was kidnapped from Burari area by the accused who took her to an isolated place where they raped her. We have registered a case and investigations are on,” said a police official.
In the second incident, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 45-year-old man on the pretext of marriage in Pandav Nagar area of east Delhi. The accused has been identified as Beenu.
“The accused and the victim both hail from Kerala. The victim said that she is a widow and works as a nurse. She met the accused Beenu around eight year ago. Beenu developed physical relations with her on the promise of marriage. She approached the police on Tuesday when she came to know that Beenu was already married,” said the police official.
