2 held for murder of woman
The Delhi police on Thursday arrested a domestic help and her husband for allegedly murdering her 68-year-old woman employer after robbing her of cash and jewellery worth around Rs 12 lakhs. Rubi Begam (35) and her husband Rakesh Mehra (27) were today caught from Gopal Nagar in Punjab’s Jalandhar where they were in hiding,
deputy commissioner of police (West) Sharad Aggarwal on Thursday stated. The duo allegedly stabbed to death Rajinder Kaur (68) in her residence in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on July 17 and robbed cash and jewellery.
Suspicion fell on Rubi as she was missing from the scene after Kaur’s murder came to light. During investigations, Aggarwal said the police received information that the couple was hiding in their relative’s Jalandhar residence. “They were then arrested and they confessed to committing the murder,” said the police. Rubi, who is from Assam, came to Delhi 20 years ago while Rakesh is her third husband.
