On Tuesday, the Delhi police arrested two students for hiring fake examinees to appear for entrance examination of B.tech course at the Jamia Milia Islamia University.

While one of the impersonator was reportedly friend of one of the original candidate, Osama Hasan, the other was hired by the second student, Ahmad Saami, through a constancy in Bihar.
Saami reportedly paid Rs 5 lakhs to the consultancy for hiring a fake examinee. The Jamia Nagar police station has got in touch with the Bihar police to track the particular consultancy service operating in Patna. While the enrolled students, Osama and Saami, are in police custody and have been sent to the Tihar jail, the impersonators were yet to be traced.
The going was smooth for both the impersonators as they not only managed to appear undetected but also cleared the entrance examination for the course.
However, both the students and impersonators were unaware of the fact that the examination process was being recorded on the CCTV by the college authorities. Their luck ran out when the original students appeared for verification. The college authorities became suspicious. The authorities concerned went back to check the CCTV recordings and both Osama and Saami were caught.
Following intensive grilling by the university staff Saami reportedly broke down and confessed to hiring a fake examinee, the Jamia authorities claimed.
However, when contacted the police maintained that Saami was “unaware of the fact that a fake examinee was appearing on his behalf.”
The police officials said that Saami claimed that after paying Rs 5 lakhs, he was assured by the consultancy in Patna that he would get admission without being required to appear for the examination. In the case of Osama, who belongs to Kanpur, a fake examinee from his city appeared on his behalf.
When contacted, the proctor of the Jamia Milia Islamia University, Masood Alam said that such cases “need to be brought to the book”.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
