2 asphyxiated by sewer gases in jangpura

Two persons died of asphyxiation after inhaling poisonous gases emanating from a sewer at Jangpura in southeast Delhi area on Monday afternoon.

The police said the incident took place at around 3.30 pm in the basement of 8/18, Jangpura on Mathura Road. The owner of the house Lokesh Sharma, 55, had asked a plumber Ram Pal, 30, to fix a motor connected to a sewer in the basement of the house which was not working for some time.
“Ram Pal arrived at 3 pm and started working. When he didn’t come out for long, Lokesh went in and found him lying unconscious. Lokesh tried to bring Ram Pal out of the place, but he too fell unconscious. The two were spotted by Lokesh’s son who called the police control room,” a police official said.
The victims were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where doctors declared them brought dead.
