2 accused students suspended
The JNU authorities on Wednesday suspended the two male students allegedly involved in the porn MMS scandal that has hit the premier institution. According to reports, JNU vice-chancellor Prof. S.K. Sopory will be meeting Union human resource development (HRD) minister Kapil Sibal and is likely to discuss the issue. The university is even believed to be mulling over a ban on the entry of female students into the boys’ hostels.
JNU’s public relations officer, Poonam Kudesia, confirmed that the two students have been suspended and the inquiry against them is on.
The student involved in the MMS, identified as Janardan Kumar, is a third-year student of the Korean Centre. His accomplice, who allegedly helped in recording the MMS, identified as Pradeep Chand, is a second year student in School of Computer Sciences. He is absconding since the MMS scandal broke out. The female in the MMS is a former student of the university. The girl had left the studies mid-way. Her sister also studies in the university.
The JNU authorities have already launched an inquiry into the scandal. The MMS was shot some time last April.
The police is awaiting the inquiry report before taking further action.
