The Yamuna continued to swell and the water level is likely to increase with Haryana set to release more water from the Hathnikund barrage into the river. Nearly 1,000 people have been evacuated from the low-lying areas in the city. In some areas, villagers could be seen working with the administration to construct temporary bandhs in order to prevent water from entering their villages.

The Yamuna water level touched 205.23 metres, 40 cm above the danger level, flooding Usmanpur, Yamuna Bazar, Bhajanpura and Shastri Park areas.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit stated, “All necessary measures are being taken to cater to the affected people. So far, nearly 1,000 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas.”
Meanwhile, flood and irrigation minister Raj Kumar Chauhan on Monday assured, “There is nothing to worry about as all precautionary measures have been taken to tackle the flood situation.”
The Yamuna was flowing above the danger mark after about 34,600 cusecs of water was released from Hathnikund barrage upstream in Haryana on Monday. The state released water after heavy rainfall in the catchment area raised the level in the river on Sunday. The level is set to rise further.
A flood control room official added, “More water has been released from Haryana which is likely to reach Delhi by Monday evening.” The official further added that the water level in Yamuna is likely to rise further.
So far, camps have been set up in Usmanpur, Garhimandu, Badarpur Khadar, ISBT bridge, Shakarpur, Akshardham Temple, Old Yamuna bridge, Geeta Colony and Okhla to cater to the affected people.
Besides, 63 boats along with divers and a team of disaster management force have been deployed near the river bank, said Delhi government officials.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
