1 killed in mishap in Metro site
A man was killed while two others were injured after they were trapped in sand at a construction site of Badli Metro Station on Monday evening.
According to the fire department, they got a call about the incident at around 5.40 pm.
“Three labourers were trapped in the sand while working at the construction site. Metro pillars were being erected at the site when the incident occurred. The trio were rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where one of them was declared brought dead,” said the fire official.
Meanwhile, a police official said the deceased was identified as Daya Shankar while the injured were identified as Deena and Deepak.
“Deena and Deepak are from UP. They are undergoing treatment at BSA Hospital,” said the official.
Meanwhile, the Metro official said that the incident occurred near Sector 18 in Rohini when an agency hired by a DMRC contractor unauthorisedly began utility identification work for a gas pipeline without the necessary safety precautions prescribed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
