1 killed, 1 hurt as rtv rams cycles, driver arrested

One man was crushed to death while one more suffered critical injuries when a RTV hit their cycles at the Okhla Phase 1 signal on Monday morning. The driver of the RTV has been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Nandan, 40. Sanjay, 38, who is being treated for the injuries, in his statement said that he works as a press man in a company in Okhla Phase 1. Sanjay, who is a resident of Faridabad, was going to work on his bicycle towards Okhla Phase 1, via Maa Anandmayee Marg on Monday morning. While he stopped at the signal opposite company No. F in Okhla Phase 1 he also saw the deceased stop at the same signal on his bicycle. Suddenly a speeding RTV hit the two bicycles from behind.
A passer-by made a call to the police. The police rushed the victims to AIIMS Trauma Centre where Nandan was declared brought dead. The driver was identified as Jawar Singh and has been arrested.
“We rushed to the spot and saw the two bicycles crushed under the RTV. The driver of the RTV has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered,” said a senior police official.
