‘Games Village facilities best’
The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee and Delhi government took officials from New Zealand, England and Australia to the soft launch of the Games Village on Thursday.
“The training facilities available here are not available anywhere else in the world. This is one of the best Games Villages ever seen and we see no reasons why any country should not attend ,” said a senior official.
“The officials of the three countries wanted to see if the CWG sites are well prepared and dispel the threat of dengue scare,” said a senior Organising Committee official.
The Commonwealth Games Committees of Australia and New Zealand had earlier issued warnings to citizens and athletes about the dengue outbreak in Delhi.
Speaking to the media, the Organising Committee officials rubbished reports that dengue will pose a threat to athletes at the Games Village.
“The Central and state governments and the MCD are on working on a war footing as far as dengue is concerned. We are taking all steps to have a safe and healthy Games. There is no cause for alarm at all,” said a senior official.
