Senior players Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh today inspected the pitch on which the second Test match against England will be played.

The duo had a look of the pitch after their batting session at the nets. They were accompanied by Wankhede Stadium curator Sudhir Naik, who was earlier Zaheer Khan's coach.

There is an even grass cover on the wicket, which helps to bind the red soil and traditionally Mumbai pitches have red soil.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had recently asked the curators to doctor the pitches and make it more spin-friendly.

The Indian captain, after winning the first Test against England at Ahmedabad, had expressed his displeasure at the Motera wicket and said,"We wanted the curators to prepare the pitches that will turn from day one."

Zaheer Khan had picked up three wickets against the visiting team in the Ahmedabad Test, while Harbhajan did not play in the first Test match. Harbhajan was included in the squad after nearly a year.

The Indian squad, barring four players, had a decent stint in the nets.

Pacer Umesh Yadav was in the dressing room but did not come out to practice. Opener Gautam Gambhir, who left mid way in the first test following the death of his grandmother, was also missing from the practice session.

Spinners Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin, and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also did not practice.

India will take on England on November 23 in the second Test match.

India are 1-0 up in the series after defeating England by 9 wickets in the first match.

The last two games of the series are to be played in Kolkata (December 5-9) and Nagpur (December 13-17).
