Youngster Rituraj’s dream run continues
Not many bowlers can lay claim to have bowled their side to a title triumph in their maiden season.
Little was known of Rituraj Singh who has done well for himself with an impressive bag of 26 wickets in four matches.
The youngster shared his experience with the media. Excerpts: On his strategy for the final: Wanted to stick to basics and focus on line and length as the wicket was on a slower side.
I was trying to be accurate rather than strive for pace. We wanted to keep the ball up and force the drive rather than give runs for the cut and pull. I guess that worked.
On not enforcing the follow-on: We were tired bowling on this wicket as nothing much was happening. At the same time we know the match is not completely over.
We still have to come out tomorrow and play good cricket. On the toss proving vital: You don’t win a match by just winning the toss. Battles are won by playing hard in the middle.
Being the non-favourites and starting the game against a big opposition like Tamil Nadu, we were looking to bat well and for a long period. We played normal cricket and in the end it worked well for us.
