Why don't we leave Sachin Tendulkar alone?

Over the last 24 years, if there has been someone who has always been the talk of the town in Indian cricketing world, he has been none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
When the Master Blaster made his debut, the world went gaga over how a teenager, who should be attending school, bravely battled the searing pace of Pakistani speedsters Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and the guile of Abdul Qadir.
And then as soon as Sachin found his foothold in the cricketing world, his ability to hit tons at will and put India in a strong position dominated headlines. A decade or more later, he was bestowed with the honour of the leading the Indian cricket team. Knives came out swiftly whenever India did badly on the field.
And then his elbow injury hogged the limelight as it threatened to cut short the Little Master’s career. Once he recovered, the talk hovered whether he can be the same Sachin of the past. Sachin remodeled his game and became a consistent scorer in international cricket.
And now, Sachin, who’s in the twilight of his career looking for a last hurrah before he calls it a day, is being let down by his own fans and the cricket board who want to see his back and being phased out so that the new generation can take his place.
Talk of him being on the firing line and selectors trying to pull the plug, as the poor numbers have piled over the years, has been continuously on the airwaves.
Is it fair to treat India’s cricketing treasure in such a manner? Shouldn’t the Little Master, who has served the country faithfully on the cricketing field for more than two decades, be left alone to find his form back and make that fairy tale ending that every cricketer dreams of?
Sachin, on his part, deserves to call on his own rather than being shown the door. Considering his contribution to Indian cricket, Sachin should well be left alone to decide when, where and how he wants to bid goodbye to the game which he loves the most.
Agreed, it’s not easy to part with something that has been close to someone’s so dearly and Sachin has given his whole life for this sport. But being the true Indian and great team spirit Sachin possesses, the legend wouldn’t wait a single day to move on if he feels he doesn’t have enough left to serve Indian cricket or if he is blocking someone’s else place in the team.
At this time of crisis, Sachin will revert to what he does best – summon all his cricketing powers and let his bat do all the talking. It won’t be long before Sachin is back to his run-scoring ways. After all, Sachin has made numerous comebacks in his career. The world is waiting for one more such comeback that will be written in golden letters in world cricket.
And for the fans and Indian cricketing board, be patient, give Sachin the breathing space he needs, and then he will be ready to sign off in style as the Little Master’s preparations are in place. It’s just a matter of time.
