Vijay’s special birthday

Team India opening batsman Murali Vijay, who turned 29 on Monday, is happy to be born on April 1.
“Absolutely not. I have no regrets at being born on All Fool’s day,” said Vijay in a chat with this newspaper.

Interestingly, it is also the first day of the new financial year in India and Vijay wants to open his account in the new season with a great run in the Indian Premier League. “Yes, people do try to play pranks on me on this day but don’t succeed. On the other hand, I try and do the same,” he said.
Former captains Ajit Wadekar (India), David Gower (England) and Stephen Fleming (New Zealand) too celebrate their birthdays on this day. “They were all great cricketers. I am proud to be associated with these legends in some way,” Vijay said.
