Tendulkar, Dhoni to fly Su-30MKI soon
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will soon ‘touch the sky’ as the defence ministry has cleared their flights in Su-30MKI, the most lethal fighter jet in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The IAF had proposed the names of Tendulkar and Dhoni to the government in this regard.
According to IAF officials: “Our proposal to fly the two cricketers in the Su-30s has been approved by the Defence Ministry and we are looking forward to their flight in Pune soon.â€
The officials further said the exact dates for the flights have not been finalised yet, and added that it would be done soon depending on the availability of the two cricketers.
IAF chief Air Chief Marshal P V Naik had earlier said that he would seek special permission from the government so that Tendulkar and Dhoni could experience a flight in Su-30MKI.
Sachin, who joined the Indian Air Force (IAF) with the rank of Honorary Group Captain in September 2010, is still not able to fly due to his unavailability.
The last VIP to fly tandem in a Su-30MKI was President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on November 25, 2009, in Pune.
