Smith quits as SA T20 captain
Johannesburg: Graeme Smith announced on Wednesday he will stand down as captain of South Africa’s Twenty20 international squad with immediate effect and as ODI skipper after next year’s World Cup.
“After a lot of thought and consideration I have decisded to step down from the captaincy of the Standard Bank ODI squad at the conclusion of the 2011 ICC World Cup campaign,” Smith was quoted as saying on the Cricket South Africa website.
Indians enter Emerging final
New Delhi: India A defeated Australian Institute of Sports by two wickets in a low-scoring tense encounter to qualify for the final of the 40-over Emerging Players Tournament in Brisbane, according to information received here. The Indians will take on South African counterparts in the final on August 20 after the Proteas defeated New Zealand comfortably by five wickets in another match. New Zealand and AIS will face off for the third place.
