Well aware that big knocks in the IPL would put the spotlight on them, Deccan Chargers' young batsmen such as Shikhar Dhawan are aiming to put their best foot forward in the cash-rich event starting April 4.

"The competition would be tough. Players come from all over the world. It is a big tournament for everyone. I am looking forward to do well for my team and score big," Dhawan told on the sidelines of a promotional event here.

"All the teams have got really good players. It's about which team clicks and who plays the best cricket on a particular day. That would be the best team," he said.

Dhawan plans to stay long at the wicket and score big to help his team win all the games.

Another Deccan player, Australia's Daniel Harris, feels his former champion team would be highly competitive.

Young right-hand batsman from Andhra Pradesh D.B. Ravi Teja, who had a decent run in the domestic circuit, said he intends to be more aggressive in the tournament.

"My domestic season was good. I did well. IPL is a good platform for me to go to the next step. We are working hard. I am trying to be more aggressive and also focusing on fielding. I want to make whatever contribution I can," he said.

Led by the seasoned Kumar Sangakkara, the Hyderabad outfit has talented players like Cameron White, Darren Bravo, J.P. Duminy, Amit Mishra and Parthiv Patel.

Though it ended up at bottom of the points table in the inaugural edition of IPL, the team went on win the title subsequently.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
