Royal Challengers Bangalore get greener
Continuing with their Go Green initiative, Royal Challengers Bangalore have become the “first and only carbon neutral cricket team” in the world.
Ahead of their last league clash on home turf this season, against Mumbai Indians on Monday, RCB owner Sidhartha Mallya declared the status officially and explained the special initiatives undertaken by the team this year including joining hands with WWF-India as the face of Bangalore for Earth hour 2012 besides an unique tree-planting programme in Bengaluru city as a joint effort with the state government.
Moreover, RCB connected itself with the London Olympics, credited to be the greenest ever. In this regard, a symbolic exchange of RCB and Olympics merchandise took place between Mallya Jr. and British High Commisioner to India James Bevan, in the presence of team mentor Anil Kumble. RCB players wore the green match jersey instead of the regular red one on Monday.
