Pujara, Dhawan in Mumbai 'A' team for England practice game
Middle order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara of Saurashtra and in-form Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan were today included in the Mumbai 'A' squad to play against England team in the visitors' second warm-up game at the D Y Patil Stadium here from November 3-5.
"These two players would play as special invitees in the team," said Nitin Dalal, joint secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association and selection meeting convenor.
Pujara is certain to be part of the Indian Test squad against the visitors while Dhawan has been in the thick of runs in domestic cricket this season.
The Delhi opener had to be replaced with Ambati Rayudu in the India 'A' sqaud, that play the first warm-up match against the visitors on October 30 at Brabourne Stadium here, as his marriage clashes with the all-important game.
The side would be led by Mumbai middle order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, Dalal said.
England arrive here on October 29 to commence the first part of their tour comprising four Tests and two T20 Internationals.
The three-day tour game in neighbouring Navi Mumbai clashes with Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Railways at the Wankhede Stadium.
Squad: Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan, Hiken Shah, Bhavin Thakkar, Sufiyan Shaikh, Nikhil Patil (Jr), Abhishek Raut, Kshemal Waingankar, Balwinder Singh Sandhu (Jr), Sagar Gorivale, Javed Khan, Neelkanth Parab, Bravish Shetty and Shardul Thakur.
