Ojha over the moon after twin titles
Pragyan Ojha can’t stop smiling. He has just won the IPL a second time. Having been part of the Deccan Chargers team that conquered the second edition and now the Mumbai Indians, the left-arm spinner is indeed jumping with joy.
“I’m over the moon,” Ojha said on Tuesday.
“I am thrilled to bits to have been part of two champion teams in a span of six years. The IPL is a premium tournament of the world and I am ecstatic to earn a double-winner tag... it’s a rare thing. To have lifted the prestigious IPL trophy twice is a very, very special feeling,” the 26-year-old said.
Drawing a comparison between the two triumphs, Ojha said: “Both titles are similar. Back in 2009, it was the first time that Deccan Chargers had tasted success in the IPL. This is the maiden title for Mumbai Indians too and so the level of excitement has been the same in the two victories.”
Ojha was all praise for captain Rohit Sharma, who was his teammate when Deccan Chargers were crowned IPL kings in 2009. “Rohit is superb as a captain — very calm and composed. This is just the beginning for him in a different role altogether and I am confident that if he keeps doing what he’s good at, he will go a long way,” the left-arm spinner who finished among the top 10 bowlers of IPL-6, said.
Among the 16 wickets Ojha took, clearly the one of Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Albie Morkel in the final was the most satisfying.
