Meet the player: Shaun Marsh
Pet name: SOS (Son of Swampy)
Fondest IPL memory: Batting alongside Adam Glilchrist. In a match against RCB last year, we put on 200-something runs. He scored a hundred in 55 balls, and it was just pure joy watching him in action as a non-striker.
Earliest sporting memory:Accompanying dad to Australia and Western Australian team’s practice sessions growing up. I remember entering the Australian dressing room during the ‘89 Ashes, and watching all my childhood heroes in person.
Favourite Indian food: My stomach doesn’t get along with Indian food, but I love the smell of those curry dishes!
Chelsea or Manchester United: Man U, obviously.
One thing not many people know about you: I worked on our family’s farm as a kid for many years before seriously pursuing cricket
Who’s the better sportsman — You or brother Mitch? Neither. My sister Melissa plays basketball for West Coast Waves (Western Australia’s women’s basketball side) back home, and she’s incredible.
Biggest regret: None. But I have a tattoo on my back which says ‘Brothers In Arms’ in Arabic. Both Mitch and I had decided to get it together. I got inked two years back - he hasn’t so far!
Sport you love, apart from cricket: Golf, I love playing it.
Things you do when not on the field: I take care of my two dogs — both are staffy bull terriers, so they are very demanding. I also like to fish, but I’m not very good at it.
