Karnataka in driver's seat
A late batting charge led by all-rounder K.Gowtham (53) and a three-wicket haul by pacer H.S. Sharath (3-42) helped Karnataka turn on the heat a g a i n s t H i m a c h a l Pradesh in their Col. CK Nayudu U-25 Elite Group A tie here on Sunday.
On the penultimate day of the four-day clash, Karnataka, Karnataka, overnight 324/4, were bowled out for 476 in their first essay, a worthy innings lead of 180. Overnight centurion Karun Nair went on to make 156 while Gowtham chipped in with a 56-ball 54 (5x4, 3x6) while coming in at No. 8. Batting a second time around, HP reached 214/6 at stumps. New-ball bowler Sharath did most of the damage claiming three wickets including first-innings centurion N. Gangta for 48. Going into the fourth and final day, HP lead by just 34 runs with four wickets in hand and the hosts will be pushing for a victory.
