J&K players to train at Viru’s academy
Six budding cricketers from Srinagar were on Monday selected for a six-week advanced coaching camp at Virender Sehwag’s academy in Jhajjar, Haryana.
The cricketers, who belong to Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, were part of the Kashmir Premier League.
The youngsters were seen off at a function organised at the Air Field in Srinagar by the Youth Services and sports minister R.S. Chib.
“The boys will attain exposure. The youth here have vast potential and the government has initiated concerted efforts for proper development of sports activities in the state,” Chib said, adding that the government has succeeded in regaining the value of sports in the valley during the last three years.
“The Kashmir Premier League is a visible example of it in which over 3,000 matches were played in 10 districts of the valley last year,” he said.
