It’s a close race to finish in the top four of this year’s IPL and I have a feeling that it will be a pot-boiler finish.

This uncertain nature has been the biggest draw of this year’s tournament and I am sure the cricket loving public all over the globe is lapping up every bit of it.

Delhi and Kolkata lead the race and I am sure that these two teams will go in to the play-offs without any hitch.

But the race for the next two spots is really tight and the scenario is changing every day with every passing game.

This will continue happening as number of teams are closely locked at same number of points with equal number of games in hand. Every result from here on will be a decisive factor.

Interestingly Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai are stuck up in a bit of botheration and they are very closely challenged by two unfancied sides in Kings XI and Rajasthan Royals.

Both this sides have played fearless cricket and the Indian youngsters of both this two teams have shown that extra hunger and commitment to make a mark for themselves.

Ajinkya Rahane from Royals has had a good tournament and the way he has carried himself in this tournament he will surely be noted very closely by the national selectors.

The young man has good temperament and has a matured head on his young shoulder. Mandeep Singh from the Kings is another youngster who has caught the imagination of the cricket loving public.

He too is a promise on whom lot of faith will be reposed for the future. Both Royals and Kings have a good balance and the biggest issue has been that they have been able to finish games.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
