India vs Ireland: Irish boat stabilising after Zaheer storm
Bengaluru: After losing two early wickets, Ireland's Niall O'Brien and William Porterfield are slowly working to stabilise the Irish boat, struck earlier by a Zaheer Khan iceberg here at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Cautious Mahendra Singh Dhoni is mixing up bowlers to get some more Irish wickets out of the way to take full command of the game.
His move to field paid off after Zaheer Khan bowled Paul Stirling in the first over and struck again in the second to send off Ed Joyce.
Talking to the media on Saturday, MSD had said that his team would try to get danger man O'Brien, (who is yet to come out), run out.
"He (O'Brien) got run out and we will try to get him run out this game also," a grinning Dhoni told media.
O'Brien blazed to the fastest ever World Cup century, off just 50 balls, to lead Ireland to a shock upset over England earlier this week.
Dhoni noted that O'Brien (113 in 63 balls) finally fell when he was out attempting a sharp run - and the Indian skipper is keen to make sure the firebrand is not allowed to run wild in their Group B showdown.
Earlier, Dhoni elected to field after winning the toss against Ireland. The Ireland made one change from the side, which shocked England by three wickets at the same venue on Wednesday, bringing in Andrew White in place of Gary Wilson.
India retained the team which tied the last match against England.
Co-hosts India have three points and Ireland two after two matches.
