India likely to field Ashwin and Raina, indicates Dhoni

Amidst criticism over his choice of the team, Indian captain Mahendra Singh on Saturday said the playing eleven will always depend on the nature of the wicket but indicated off-spinner R. Ashwin and Suresh Raina will get to play in the last group b league match against West Indies on Sunday.

"Lot depends on the wicket that will be provided. If you are playing in Bengaluru, you will have a different playing XI. If you are playing in Chennai, you will have a very different line up for it," the Indian captain said at the pre-match media conference on Saturday.

"In the same manner, if you play the quarterfinals in Ahmedabad, where we have not seen the wicket its very difficult to say whether we will go with a 3-1 or 3-2 combination or 2-2 combination. I think a lot will depend on the nature of the wicket that is provided," he added.

When asked about players who have not yet got a chance to play in the tournament so far, he said: "Initially, they did not get chance to play. But everyone would have played at least one game before the knockout stage." This was an indication that Ashwin and Raina might get a game on tomorrow.

Dhoni also said the team was not bothered about the result of the match between South Africa and Bangladesh although they are now through to the quarterfinals.

"It does not really bother us. We want to have a good practice session and anyway whether you are worried or not, their games will not have any bearing ...We want to have a good practice session and we would rather concentrate on that. When we are done with the practice session then we will enjoy the game."

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
