India elect to bat in first Test against New Zealand

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in the first cricket Test against New Zealand here on Thursday.

For India, Ajinkya Rahane, Piyush Chawla, S. Badrinath and Ishant Sharma have been left out of the line-up.

For New Zealand, all-rounder James Franklin has been included while Jeetan Patel is the only spinner.
