‘I can gorge myself on butter chicken’
He is the highest run-getter in T20 cricket, and has been instrumental in shaping the fortunes of Kings XI Punjab this season, but stand-in skipper David Hussey says he is still learning the ropes.
“I have not mastered the format, but I’m having a wonderful time at the IPL. I have a great bunch of boys who are keen to give their best for the side. Our first aim will be to seal a spot in the play-offs,” Hussey said in a chat on eve of the game against the Deccan Chargers.
The 34-year-old derives a lot of inspiration from his elder brother Michael Hussey. “Mike has been a fantastic ambassador of the game, and has contributed immensely for Australia over the years. He has always inspired me to give my best shot, and that is what I have tried to do,” David said.
The all-rounder is keen to follow on Mike’s footsteps and play Test cricket for Australia. “That’s the ultimate dream for me. Test cricket is the highest form of the game, and I would love to be part of it for my country,” he said.
David seems to be relishing each of his visits to India. “I have had the opportunity to visit this wonderful country on many occasions. The rich culture and the knowledgeable people have impressed me,” David said.
When it comes to his favourite Indian cuisine, Butter chicken and Dal Makhni top the list. “I never miss a chance to have them (Butter Chicken and Dal Makhni). There are other spicy food items which I have tried too,” David said.
