India defeated the West Indies by one wicket in the opening one-day international at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

The hosts reached the 212-run target with seven balls to spare in the day-night match, with Rohit Sharma top-scoring with an impressive 72.
