Finn sparks Bangladesh collapse against England
Steven Finn took 2/4 in eight balls as England regained their grip on the first Test against Bangladesh at Lord’s here on Saturday.
At tea, Bangladesh were 229/6 in reply to England’s 505/6 — a deficit of 176 and still needing a further 77 runs to avoid the follow-on.
Fast bowler Finn, playing his first Test in England and on his Middlesex home ground, had Test-best figures of 3/72 in 19 overs.
He was well supported by fellow seamer James Anderson, who took 2/9 in nine overs, with three maidens, on Saturday.
Mushfiqur Rahim was 11 not out and Mahmudullah seven not out, with Bangladesh losing 4/42 in the session.
After rain meant no play before lunch, Bangladesh resumed on their overnight score of 172/2 in this first of a two-Test series.
Junaid Siddique was 53 not out and Jahurul Islam unbeaten on 16. — AFP
