DPS, Vidya Jain in quarter-finals
Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and Vidya Jain Public School (Rohini) beat back challenges from Ryan International School of Faridabad and Chiranjiv Bharati School (Sushant Lok) respectively to enter the quarter-finals of the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup here on Monday.
Yash Sehrawat 61 (42b, 9x4, 1x6) set the stage for a tall score by DPS, but it was really Ashmeet Ahlwadi’s unbeaten 45 (27b, 4x4, 2x6) that powered the DPS innings when they scored at 12.6 runs an over. Sehrawat pipped his team-mate to the Daredevil of the Match award.
The fall of dashing opener Sankalp Saraswat (14) in the second over left Parth Aggarwal to battle by himself and though he made an unbeaten 67, Ryan International School were always behind the chase against the left-arm spin of Nikhil Kumar and Ishaan Gulati.
In the other pre-quarter-final, Vidya Jain Public School looked in control after setting hosts Chiranjiv Bharati School (Gurgaon) a 182-run target. Chiranjiv Bharati started well but lost momentum in a hard-fought contest.
