Dixit sets up CCI win
Coca-Cola India XI rode on Delhi boy Vikas Dixit’s century to beat Sri Lanka Under-17s by 103 runs in the first match of the three-match series at the FTZ grounds in Colombo on Tuesday.
In a rain-delayed game reduced to 47 overs. India XI batted first but failed to get a steady start and lost three wickets with just 43 on the board.
Salwan Boys High School student Dixit however, stabilised the innings even though wickets kept falling at the other end with Dulan Tharaka and Raveen Sayer claiming three wickets each.
However Dixit received good support from Kaif Ahmed (25) and Anupam (12) and thereafter with Pranjul Puri and Amar Chaudhary, he got to the three-figure mark on the second-last ball of the innings.
In reply, the Sri Lankans managed just 130/7. Anish and Puri claimed two wickets each while Chaudhary and all-rounder Dixit also picked-up crucial wickets.
