Dhoni welcome in Incredible India! campaign, says Sahay
Team India captain M.S. Dhoni is welcome to be a part of "Incredible India!" campaign for promoting tourism, Union tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahay said on Monday.
"We would like Dhoni to be a part of Incredible India! It will be an honour for us," Sahay said at a news conference here, the home town of Dhoni.
The tourism department has also offered each member of the World Cup winning team to choose a destination within the country for travel and the department would take up responsibility of providing hospitality, Sahay added.
He congratulated Dhoni for being listed in the 'Time' magazine's list of 100 most influential people in the world for the year 2010.
"It is a matter of great pride that Time magazine has listed him among world’s great personalities. I understand Dhoni is incredible," he said.
In the list, Dhoni found himself ranked 52nd, above global football icon Lionel Messi and US President Barrack Obama.
Claiming that Dhoni has not visited Ranchi after winning World Cup on April two because of the ongoing controversy regarding anti-encroachment drive here, Sahay said the people of his city were waiting to give him a rousing welcome.
Sahay represents Ranchi constituency in the Lok Sabha.
