Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag on song!
Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag seems to be on song these days. Well, quite literally. The 33-year-old has always been a player who sticks to his guns, irrespective of the situation.
It is an open secret that the swashbuckling opener, who already has hit five half-centuries in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, takes his time off the game by singing songs during the deliveries.
After registering a hundred (his maiden ton in Twenty20s) last year against Deccan Chargers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium last year, Sehwag had confessed that he was crooning the Daredevils song Dum Duma Dum.
“It has always been my way of diverting the mind,” he said. For the right-hander, Kishore Kumar’s evergreen hit — Chala Jaata Hoon, Kisi Ke Dhoon Me — from the Hindi movie Mere Jeevan Saathi seems to be the flavour at the moment.
“I stop humming (the song) when I see that the bowler on top of his run-up,” he said. Viru also relaxes his mind by singing Sai Bhajans.
If you thought there was no method to Viru’s madness, then you can’t be farther from the truth. He treats each delivery on its merit.
Viru does not bother about what shot he would play, but his unflinching self-belief helps him conquer all odds.
On Thursday, Viru will take guard in the same ground which witnessed a whirlwind knock in IPL-4. The fans will be hoping for a repeat telecast.
