DD camp for schoolboys
The Delhi Daredevils will kick off their Indian Premier League 2013 season with a two-day coaching camp for schoolboys at the Jamia Milia Islamia grounds on March 21 and 22. The 34 schoolboys were chosen during the inaugural Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup tournament which concluded on December 18 last year.
The Delhi Daredevils coaching staff, led by team mentor T.A. Sekar and coach Eric Simons, will conduct the camp ahead of the pre-season training for the squad which will compete in IPL 2013.
“The camp for the schoolboys is in keeping with our commitment to enhancing cricket at the junior level by introducing them to contemporary methods,” Sekar said.
“We spotted some exciting talent during the tournament which saw 48 schools in the national capital region compete for the top prize. We want to give them an experience that will spur their development as good cricketers,” Sekar said. “We are hopeful that some of these boys will go on to play the highest grade of cricket.”
Sekar said that the Daredevils had also invited coaches from many schools to a seminar on the second day of the camp.
“We will share some interesting concepts on training schoolboys so that these coaches can enhance their own knowledge and ensure that their trainees continue their pursuit of excellence in a methodical manner,” he said.
