Bengaluru: South Africa's little known Francois du Plessis made heads turn at the 2011 IPL Players's Auction when he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for $120,000, getting six times his base price.

The 26-year-old all-rounder, who has made for himself in English, evoked a lot of interest before the champions purchased him.

That turned out to be the last purchase in the regular round of the auction.

Infact, only five players were signed up in the second session, with the highest going to South African Alfonso Thomas and Australian James Pattinson, who fetched $100,000 each.

Each team will now be required to list names of the players they would like to sign up from the remaining unsold players, who will then come up for auction again.
