Cricket’s forays in south
With the launch of Muthoottu Mini cricket club in Pathanamthitta district, south Kerala has joined the league of cricket professionals, focusing on the upbringing of the junior cadre.
The club has enrolled players between 16 and 22 years from south Kerala districts, offering weekend training and free kits.
The club says it will be ready with a full-fledged academy in the coming months.
Jogy John, secretary of the district cricket academy lauded the efforts.
“This is a very unique endeavour and more private firms must come forward to promote the game on similar lines with the KCA.”
The club representatives said they will be concentrating on offering more match exposure to junior-level players, which includes playing them in outstation tournaments on a regular basis. “We are opening up opportunities for our budding talents,” said Roy M. Mathew, chairman of the club.
