‘Collective failure cost us match’
With a formidable batting line-up, a 280-target was achievable but what hurt India A’s chances was their batsmen's inability to build a good partnership which complemented their sloppy fielding earlier allowing game-changers Jonathan Carter and Leon Johnson being dropped even before they settled in.
Ruing the missed opportunities, India A skipper Yuvraj Singh said, “Carter’s dropped catch was a factor. We should have restricted them to about 260. No one in our batting line-up got going. The two early wickets put us under pressure and they bowled in the right areas. We did not get good partnerships and they did not let us score,” said the southpaw.
Admitting it was a collective failure, Yuvraj added, “We did not field well and if you want to win you need to bowl well too.”
While the Indians made one change to the team bringing in Shabhaz Nadeem for Rahul Sharma, West Indies A made three crucial changes to their line-up.
Ronsford Beaton, Nkrumah Bonner and Narsingh Deonarine made way for Jonathan Carter, Leon Johnson and Veerasammy Permaul.
