Chargers buy Christian for `4.14cr

Daniel Christian was the hero of the second day of the IPL-4 auction in Bengaluru. He has played only three T20 internationals; few know who he is. But his low profile has not stopped Deccan Chargers from spending `4.14 crore on the Australian all-rounder, 18 times his modest reserve price of `23 lakhs.

A stunned Christian was quoted as saying: “It’d be nice to earn those kind of figures in a full career. It’s been a funny afternoon, to say the least. Compared to the other guys, I was just hoping to get picked up and play a part in it, so to go for $900,000, words can’t really describe it.”
