Bravo slams ton as Windies consolidate position

Darren Bravo slammed his second successive century as West Indies attacked the Indian bowling to rattle up quick runs and reach 378/3 at lunch on the second day of the third and final cricket Test here today.
The left-handed Bravo, who made a fluent 136 in the second innings of the second Test, was unconquered on 105 off 169 balls with 12 hits to the fence. This was Bravo's third hundred in his last four Test appearances.
The other not out batsman at the break was Kieran Powell, who was also in an aggressive mood, scoring 38 in 61 balls wih six fours. The visitors added 111 runs in 30 overs in the pre-lunch period.
The lone batsman out in the first session was Kirk Edwards, who added 21 runs to his overnight score this morning before edging pacer Ishant Sharma to home team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the stumps.
His 86 off 165 balls contained 13 fours and he fell just before the end of the first hour.
Commencing the day at a healthy-looking overnight 267 for 2, Edwards and Bravo negotiated Ishant and debutant Varun Aaron with a good degree of assurance.
Aaron was wayward and was punished by the two Caribbean batsmen with Bravo especially harsh on the Jharkhand youngster as he hit the first two balls of the day for successive fours to the straight field.
Aaron needlessly tried to dig the ball short on the slow paced wicket which invited punishment by Bravo who twice pulled the bowler disdainfully to the fence.
India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought in left-arm slow bowler Pragyan Ojha for Ishant after seven overs and he got some turn and also bowled a tight short spell.
But with Aaron leaking runs at the other end, Ishant was brought on for him after the visitors' score reached 300 in the ninth over of the morning.
